PPTA Industrial Action

The PPTA National Executive has announced further industrial action, including:

  • a series of partial strikes ("rostering home") from 14-17 October,
  • a full day national strike on Thursday 23 October,
  • a ban on extra-curricular activities on Wednesday 29 October, and
  • a national strike from 1.15pm to 3.15pm on Wednesday 5 November.

Further details on the effect of this action are outlined below.

Partial Strikes ("rostering home" from 14-17 October)

Known as “rostering home” these partial strikes mean students in specified year levels will not be taught or supervised by PPTA members on specified days. Almost all of our teachers are PPTA members.

PARTIAL STRIKE DATES:

Tuesday 14 October : No Year 9 classes will run

Wednesday 15 October : No Year 10 classes will run

Thursday 16 October : No Year 11-12 classes will run

Friday 17 October : No Year 13 classes will run

We ask that you keep your children at home on the relevant “rostering home” days as we do not have the staffing capacity to supervise the named year levels on the specified days.

Please note that whilst “rostered home” all students will still be able to access class work as usual, via Google Classroom.

Year levels who are not “rostered home” on a given day will attend classes as usual.

National Strike (full day on 23 October)

Rangiora High School will be unable to staff classes on Thursday 23 October. The school will be open but, as staffing will be greatly reduced, only supervision will be available on this day.

The buses will operate normally, but regular timetabled classes will not run.

Any students who do attend school on Thursday 23 October are asked to meet in Ōharua (the School Library) at 9.00am to be supervised until 2.55pm.

All students will be able to access class work as usual, via Google Classroom.

Extra-curricular Ban (29 October)

PPTA members will not participate in extra-curricular activities on Wednesday 29 October. This ban will affect sports and cultural activities on this day.

Please note, the Senior Prizegiving and Year 13 Graduation scheduled for the evening of Wednesday 29 October will be unaffected.

Partial Strike (from 1.15pm on 5 November)

Rangiora High School will be unable to staff classes from 1.15pm on Wednesday 5 November. The school will be open but, as staffing will be greatly reduced, only supervision will be available on this day.

The buses will operate normally, but regular timetabled classes will not run.

Any students who do attend school after 1.15pm on the afternoon of Wednesday 5 November will be supervised in Ōharua (the School Library) until 2.45pm.

All students will be able to access class work as usual, via Google Classroom.
