Assemblies
School Assemblies and House Assemblies run during Tuesday and Thursday wānanga classes.
Attendance
Student attendance is monitored electronically every period. To report an absence for any reason please email absences@rangiorahigh.school.nz or telephone 03 311 8888 and press 1. A telephone call to the school office must be followed with an appropriate note from a parent or caregiver. Parents and caregivers are welcome to contact the school's Attendance Officer on 03 3118888 for assistance with attendance and truancy issues.
Buses
In accordance with Ministry of Education regulations, a student living more than 4.8 km from the school is entitled to free bus travel. However, students may have to make their own way up to 1.6 km to a pick-up point. Information on bus routes and times may be viewed by clicking here. Specific information on pick-up times and stopping points should be obtained from the bus company. Good behaviour is expected on the bus at all times.
Reports and Interviews
Parents and caregivers receive regular reports on student progress and attainment. Interview Days are held to discuss progress with parents and caregivers. However, we would encourage any parent or caregiver who has a concern to make an appointment at any time for an interview with your child’s Kaitiaki or class teacher, and not wait for the interview days. Please telephone the school on 03 3118888.
Financial Matters
The school has opted in to the 'Donations Scheme' operated by the Government which means we are fully funded to deliver the NZ curriculum. We comply with the Ministry of Education requirements of the scheme. Therefore, you will not be requested to pay any school fees.
Sometimes there are additional costs associated with courses that will generate a fee or charge. You will be asked to agree to whether you wish to pay that fee in advance. Students from families who do not wish to pay that charge will not be disadvantaged. For camps and other activities where there is an overnight stay, you may be requested to contribute to the costs of the activity. Your participation is voluntary.
Activities that are outside the curriculum (such as out of school sports and cultural activities) are not Government funded and will usually incur a charge. You will be told about the charge in advance of the activity so that you can choose whether to participate.
PTA Donation: The voluntary PTA (Parent Teacher Association) donation is $10 per year.
The school welcomes online payment. The school's bank account number is 12 3149 0228242 00 (ASB Rangiora). Please quote your child's enrolment number and name when making payments.
Financial Assistance
Some assistance is available for families in difficult circumstances. The school has access to funds to which application can be made for help towards purchase of uniforms and school books. Grants are usually limited to $100.00-$200.00. Further information and advice is available by telephoning the school office on 03 3118888.
