Faculty of Languages
Languages are challenging. Studying a language encourages us to be: thinkers, risk takers and competent communicators.
It’s exciting to do something different.
It’s an enrichment of our self – gives another dimension.
It’s a challenge to be learning something we don’t know anything about.
Languages consists of three specialist subjects:
French (from Year 9 to Year 13 NCEA Level 3)
- Year 9 French is a half-year course aimed at introducing the basics of the language (introduction, family, pets, weather, age, birthday, clothes, etc.) and learning about some aspects of French culture.
- Year 10 French is a half or full-year course aimed at consolidating what was learnt in Year 9 and learning about new topics (food, transport, future plans, leisure activities, holidays, etc.)
- Senior French develops grammar and vocabulary knowledge, with the opportunity of taking part in a language trip to New Caledonia.
