Welcome to Rangiora High School
Principal's Message
It is with immense pride that I introduce myself as the thirteenth Principal of Rangiora High School. For over 140 years, since Reverend Tuckey (our first Headmaster) opened the school in 1884, Rangiora High School has had a proud history of serving its community.
We have consistently challenged the traditional delivery of education in North Canterbury, ensuring we remain at the forefront of providing exceptional opportunities and outcomes for our students. We deeply understand the unique nature of our community and have always strived to offer a balanced pathway for our students, whether they aspire to higher education or careers in agriculture, supported by our on-site farm.
Our motto, ‘Lux Cum Amore’, which is Latin for ‘Enlightenment with Friendship’, is the cornerstone of our school's philosophy. This is further reinforced by our core values: Wawatahia: Aspire to be the best we can be, Whakautea: Respect yourself and others, and Tohaina: Contribute actively to our community.
At Rangiora High School, our students are at the absolute centre of everything we do. Our purpose is to see them engaged, to help them experience success in all areas of learning, and to discover that learning extends far beyond the four walls of the classroom.
We pride ourselves on the diverse opportunities we provide and the strong emphasis on positive, learning-centred relationships between our students and teachers. Yet, above all else, we want our students to cultivate a true sense of belonging. This means encouraging them to resist the urge to simply "fit in" and instead to wholeheartedly embrace their own unique qualities.
We warmly welcome you and look forward to partnering with you to make your child’s secondary schooling experience truly exceptional.
