Since 26 February 2015, Rangiora High School has been governed by a Commissioner appointed by the Minister of Education. The Commissioner is Mrs Bev Moore.

Under section 78O of the Education Act 1989, the Commissioner has all the functions, powers and duties of the Board of Trustees she was appointed to replace.

The appointment of the Commissioner has not changed the day-to-day operation of the school. The Principal remains responsible for the day-to-day management of the school.

The Ministry is required by legislation to formally review the appointment of the Commissioner annually. The Commissioner will remain in place until such time that the Secretary for Education is satisfied that the assistance is no longer required. At that stage a newly elected Board will assume all of the governance responsibilities at the school.

The Commissioner works with the Principal to ensure the school continues its prime focus on teaching and learning, and successful educational outcomes for all students, ensuring our teaching staff offer high quality learning programmes in an environment where the pastoral care of all students remains paramount.

The Commissioner may be contacted by telephoning the school office on +64 3 3118888 or emailing
