Kia Ora,
My name is Fabia Lin and I am 15 years old. I am living in Rangiora, New Zealand and studying at Rangiora High School. I am here for six months to improve my english and to enjoy new experiences.
I am living with a wonderful host family where I have two younger sisters and my parents are very fun, friendly and caring. We also have two horses, a dog calld Hunter, cats, chickens and at the moment we are looking after three baby kittens. I have my own Kitten and I have named her Maria. My host family are great. They make me feel very welcome and take me out to visit many different places in Canterbury. Last week we went to a Rugby game and it was amazing.
Rangiora High School has many great opportunities for interntional students. You can join sport teams or get free music lessons. International students can also take horse riding lessons at lunchtime. They are so much fun. We are learning show jumping, playing horse games and going on trips to the Pony Club or Horse Treks. My favorite sport here in Rangiora is Horse Polo. You can play in the school team with other kiwi students and get great lessons from professional and talented polo players.
I have also joined the senior volleyball team. I have made many kiwi friends and I have been able to join in competitions.
I loved joining in House sports day because we dressed up in our house colours and spent the whole day doing sports together.
International Student Outdoor Education Camp was another highlight for me. We went to Kaikoura and Nelson. I went swiming with dolphins, kayaking, rafting and sightseeing at many beautiful and stunning spots in the top of the South Island.
My advice for new International Students is to take up every new opportunity you get. The staff are very welcoming, they do a great job to support you and you will have one of the most amazing time of your life.
I hope you got an impression of studying at Rangiora High School.
