2023 Course Selection Information
Course selection for 2023 is open.
Year 9
Year 9 students select module subjects for 2023. This must include ONE Language. Over the two years of Year 9-10 they must select modules from each of the 8 Essential Learning Areas of the New Zealand Curriculum.
Year 10
Year 10 students select module subjects for 2023. Students and their wānanga teacher will need to check what modules they have taken in Year 9. All 8 Learning Areas must have been covered over the two years of Years 9 and 10.
Year 11
Students take TEN half year semester equivalent (including at least one semester of English [or Te Reo Maori] and one semester of Mathematics) but will need to select at least fourteen options including backup subjects, then put them in order of preference.
Year 12
Students take TEN half year semester equivalent or less (dependant on course length) but will need to select fourteen options including backup subjects, then put them in order of preference.
Year 13
Students take FIVE subjects for the full year (or the equivalent of). Students need to select either EIGHT full year subject options including backup subjects, then put them in order of preference.
BACKUP Subjects
Backup subjects are needed because some courses may be full, not running due to lack of numbers or may not fit with the other subjects selected by the student. Please choose carefully and in order of preference. The course selection website allows you to sort your subjects in preference order before you submit.
Order of Preference
The top subjects selected that FIT will be used, in order of preference - order chosen, (ie: top choice first, next choice second, etc).
SUBJECT Fit
When course selections are all entered, some courses will not have sufficient students to run and will be folded, then the next suitable choice is used.
If a student cannot take one of the options selected, then the next suitable choice will be used.
If a student has made incompatible choices then the lowest choice will be removed and the next suitable choice will be used, e.g. too many vocational courses (without arrangement with the Head of Careers) for seniors, or if two courses that cannot be taken together such as HPE11 and HPS11, or more than two electives from one subject area for juniors, etc
