Emergency Procedures

Rangiora High School has comprehensive procedures to deal with emergencies. In the event of an emergency and subsequent evacuation:

  • students evacuate to the far side (the east side) of the playing fields,
  • students will be held at school until the “all clear” is given,
  • Mr Chris Quigley and Ms Julia Malcolm (Deputy Principals) will be stationed in the Gymnasium car park to direct parents and whanau who arrive to collect their children. The school has an emergency sign-out process in the event of parents arriving to collect their children.

On the enrolment form there is a space to nominate a person(s) to whom your child can be released to in the case of emergency. If you did not do so, or wish to update this information, please ask your child to hand this information (in written form) to the school office.

Please do discuss with your family what to do in the case of an emergency. It is important that you establish a family plan that includes actions that are to be taken in the event that you are unable to pick your child up following an emergency.

Support is always available through our Guidance Team for any students requiring help.
