Kapa Haka

The emphasis in this Maori cultural group is on traditional aspects of culture such as haka, powhiri, waiata and the values of whanaungatanga (kinship) and manakitanga (hospitality).

Recruitment of new members is an ongoing process.

Frequent training and practice enables the kapa haka group to perform in school assemblies and prizegivings, take part in powhiri and support contestants from the school at the annual Manu Korero speech competition.

The kapa haka group also performs regularly for local primary schools and community groups.
