Final Match Report

vs Burnham at Lincoln

RHS 46 - Burnham 5

Preparation for this weeks final got off to a great start with the teams performance in the School’s House Choir Competition. Singing ‘Father and Son’ by Cat Stevens the boys were a hit with the audience. Training was relaxed and low key with confidence high without being over the top. The game started well for Rangiora High with two quick tries from a scorching start. The play slowly evened out during the first half with Burnham working the forwards hard. An excellent lineout drive gave Burnham a well deserved try (12-5). The remainder of the half was a tight affair with both sides gaining good territory only to lose it to good defence. A late try in the half gave Rangiora a 17-5 lead.

With the game still up for grabs it was Rangiora High that struck early in the second spell and continued to run the ball at a flagging Burnham defence. 5 tries in the second half gave Rangiora a very convincing final win. Most pleasing was the way in which many of the tries were scored with the ball passing through many sets of hands. The crowd were certainly entertained. Credit to Burnham as they continued to take it to the forwards and on several occasions came close to scoring.

Tries: Cody McClatchy, Al Kennedy, Ollie Bithray(2), Jamie Youngman, Braden Hislop, Toby Ashby, Alex Kennedy

Conversions: James Marr (3)
